Blessings and Humor

1) Church was really good. I made a point focus more during sacrament meeting, a it helps that Miss L is getting better at being reverent.
2) I met a girl who could use a few good playgroup friends. I am always up for that.
3) We had a wonderful time at the fiesta party for one my playgroup friends last night ...and yummy catered steak fajitas.
4) I have been enjoying lots of free time with Gary. I love that boy!
5) My dad is home from the hospital and recovering nicely. He even went to church today, but of course I don't think he would miss unless he was in the hospital (in fact he had a presidency meeting IN the hospital last week ...I can just picture it...counselors, dad on oxygen in a hospital gown,... etc.
6) My mom has decided 'She' was wants to keep the hospital bed parked in her bedroom. According to her, "It is the most comfortable bed ever"
7) I really like my church class. This is one of those "hold on to" callings.
8) My mom brought me some clothes when I had the baby to encourage me (or just remind me of the shape I once was), and this skirt (as pictured above) finally fit today. Isn't it darling?
9) I love my little family

First Hair Cut

My beautiful daughter was getting a little scraggly in the hair department. The back has grown really well, but the front has barely grown. So this was the first attempt to "even it out"

What do you think?

Today I was inspired...

I am not a writer. Language was never my forte, written or spoken. Anyone who has read my blog knows that...the spelling and punctuation errors, the lack of word choice. Anyone was has talked to me on the phone knows the verbal sides lacks as well.

I value those who do have a talent for writing, sharing humor or emotion. I feel guilty delving in the life of others through their blogs, even my friends, let alone their friends, who consequently I have never met. But still I do.

And this post really inspired me...

As a little background, her sister (nie) and bil were badly burned in an airplane crash last week, and she is subsequently taking care of her sisters 4 children.

Tea Party II

Today, the pool was closed and I forgot. So, we had a tea party instead. Miss L gets to do everything for these...cut my food, pour the water, set the table. She loves it, I love it too, unless she decides my cookie needs to be "pretend" re-baked in the hot dog pot before eating...that was a little yucky.

I have thought of doing this for her birthday party, making frilly aprons as party favors, and got so excited I wanted to start them today. My only question: Can you invite boys to a tea party?

Guess What Came today....

So they aren't the coolest artistic pictures in the world, but the camera had to charge for 2 hours (I know I was in agony). This tiny little camera will be great for the park, and on the go pictures, which in my opinion are the best kind.

Blessings

This week was a hard one, but Leslie has inspired me to be grateful:

1) Gary is done with the first round of med school boards.
2) After 2+ years of not seeing the dentist, I still have no cavities
3) My dad is slowly getting better, and was not hurt worse.
4) We found our lost library movie.
5) We were able to get the spot out of our new carpet thanks to Rug Doctor.
6) My early birthday present is arriving next week (thanks Mom!!!) ... a beautiful new camera.
7) I am glad we have healthy children.
8) After a rainy week, this weekend was gorgeous.
9) I went on a date last night.

I think sometimes God gives us hard weeks to remind us that we have a lot of unseen blessings, or maybe that the "blessing" is that God helps us through weeks like this, when otherwise we might not get through without yelling at our kids, or husbands, or finding any joy in life.

New Recipes?

This week I was struggling with what to cook so I turned to my handy online cookbook. I figure if more than 100 people like said recipe it must be good.

This
Indonesian Chicken recipe was absolutely wonderful. I added my own vegetables (what we had around) and took out the chile sauce (which I know Miss L wouldn't have handled, although I think my family would have loved it with). It was very good. My sis. Katie would've loved it.

This fruity curry chicken salad was also delicious, but Gary won't eat mayonnaise, so I took it to a play group, and then came home and ate the rest for dinner myself. It was very good too. The curry totally makes this.

Other than that I have been out of ideas. I am a limited in my cooking because Gary doesn't eat mayonaise, really fatty foods (like fried chicken), cream of mushroom/chicken soup, or any white milk products. If you haven't guessed he is lactose intolerant. Blah!!!!! At least he likes spices, and boy does my side of the family eat spices.

But I guess it makes me eat healthier. But it also throws me for a loop, when I'm out of ideas and want to throw together a casserole (no cream of chicken/cream of mushroom).

So got any ideas out there????

Unfortunately my camera....

Here is my post about the new bows I learned how to make that actually stay in Miss L's hair, and are darling...

And here is my post about the new bedding I got from someone in my neighborhood because i decided I would never own the quilt and bedskirt I wanted, definately out of my budget for a long while. But don't you just love the details on the bedskirt?

But alas...after six years of wonderful use, my camera died, seriously died. No replacing the batteries and jiggling it just right. It has gone to camera heaven.

So you will just have to make to with my visual descriptions. Not quite as good huh.

Gary thinks I can still sell if for parts on Ebay.
