Mothers Day Talks

Gary and I both gave talks today in church, and it has been really great to research for this talk and remember the Divinity and Nobility of motherhood.

I used this talk and this talk quite a bit:

From Elder Holland's talk this is the quote summed up my talk:

“Through the thick and the thin of this, and through the occasional tears of it all, I know deep down inside I am doing God’s work. I know that in my motherhood I am in an eternal partnership with Him. I am deeply moved that God finds His ultimate purpose and meaning in being a parent, even if some of His children make Him weep.
“It is this realization,” she says, “that I try to recall on those inevitably difficult days when all of this can be a bit overwhelming. Maybe it is precisely our inability and anxiousness that urge us to reach out to Him and enhance His ability to reach back to us. Maybe He secretly hopes wewill be anxious,” she said, “and will plead for His help. Then, I believe, He can teach these children directly, through us, but with no resistance offered. I like that idea,” she concludes. “It gives me hope. If I can be right before my Father in Heaven, perhaps His guidance to our children can be unimpeded. Maybe then it can be His work and His glory in a very literal sense.” 7

Knowing that I am doing God's work makes me recommit to these children I have been entrusted with.

Happy Mother's Day, to my mother...who is amazing, and mother-in-law, and my grandma M!

Partytime

The long anticipated party has come to pass.

 Jello.

 Our center piece.

Lily was in charger of making the alligator clips for the treat bags.
And she was in charge of the "fishing booth"
 and giving the prizes.

Things I learned:

1) Have the pizza guy double slice the pizza for little pieces, this was great, no wasted pizza k,
2) Decorate the night before.
3) Organize the pinata line with a rope everyone must stay behind...I got hit a few times trying to be that rope.
4) Make sure the pizza place is open when you think.  I didn't realize this until time to order, and I would've shifted the party back 1/2 hour to accommodate the pizza man.

Did I mention

Did I mention I went to an awesome resort in Phoenix for the weekend with my hubby? It was the nicest getaway. It was relaxing, and I really fell in love with Arizona. We stayed here thanks to MD Anderson. I swam, worked out at the beautiful resort, ate good food, hiked Camelback, went to the Mesa temple,  and enjoyed alone time with my hubby.

Did I also mention today is our 10-year anniversary. I am really happy with my choice. He is still my favorite.

Here we are at the Mesa temple.

Happy Birthday lil G!

Can't believe he is five!!!

He wanted a Venus fly trap for his birthday... For my plant lover.
