Our Weekend

While Daddy went camping with the Aaronic priesthood boys from church, the kids and I had a lot of fun.

We did the Lowe's kids workshop... they are awesome/free , and totally the level of my kids. They built racecars.

We went to the Gator Palooza which is a local elementary fundraiser/carnival. We ate funnel cakes, pizza, popcorn, and Miss L got her hair spray painted, and Lil' G got eggs filled with confetti to crack on our heads. I happened to keep finding things...I found someone's bank card, and I found someone's iphone. Crazy day.

And this one is getting more curls in the back.

It was topped off by a wonderful Stake women's conference. I only saw about 6 people there from our ward. I wish more had taken advantage of it. The classes were really amazing.

Playgroup

Every 3 weeks I host Lil'G's playgroup. Today was nice for outside play. The boys loved the garden. And the girls loved the slide and singing songs.

And here are more teeth!

New furniture...refurbished

Most of our furniture is hand-me-down. I saw this glaze technique at our friends Jeff and Annie's house on their cupboards while we were in Denver and I thought I would try it on our headboard... and if I liked it, the rest of our mismatched bedroom furniture.

Get this:

This headboard was originally a king-size headboard in my neighbor's trash. Gary sawed off both end to make it a queen length, which luckily the piece lended itself to. He repositioned the end pieces.

Here it is in the new size with some wholes filled and sanded :

Primed twice and painted twicePutting on the glaze, paint it on, rub it off with a damp towel, and the glaze sticks only in the corners
Finished product (while almost finished, need the polyurethane topcoat)
Close up:
What do you think?

More Valentines Treats

I like treats, what can I say, and when you have an entire chocolate gingerbread Love Shack that noone wants to eats you have to make chocolate covered strawberries for valentine's day. Plus it is the perfect activity for a 2/5 year-old.

Only fitting.

Love Shack

Gary got a greatly reduced chocolate gingerbread house online. Christmas theme didn't quite fit so we turned it into the "LOVE SHACK". And we had a little more Valentine's fun tonight making cookie-pops.
