Old Easter Candy

I have been reminded that I have not blogged in over a week. So I must confess ...

I am cheap, really cheap, but when Easter candy goes on sale for 90% off at CVS right down the street, whats a girl to do?

So Initially I bought one of these: giant white chocolate easter bunny

Then I went back, and bought 4 of theses (at 7 cents a piece I might add):
cadbury mini eggs

And another one of the first Item... for $1.10 TOTAL.

Oh I love Easter, (2 weeks late that is).

And as a postscript, Gary made me these brownies (the perfect brownie) not too cakey not too oily.

And they were complimented by huge chunks of White Chocolate Easter Bunny.

Somedays, I can't handle motherhood...

Today is one of them. Actually this whole week I think I have need a break, or vacation, Florida, Hawaii, or one place I really want to go...Santorini, would be acceptable... Just seems that when I finish bathing, feeding, reading to, playing with, attending play groups for, putting down for a nap, and trying to teach religion to this girl, I turn around only to find another mess to be cleaned up.

Here's the two within the last 3 days. You know something is wrong when she is happily playing somewhere in the house alone, and not in front of you. You get that feeling...





We made a little fort in our empty cabinet in the bathroom...bad idea. To close to fun stuff aka. makeup. I thought it was out of her reach, but apparently not. I haven't brought myself to clean the makeup mess up yet.

My little Chef

Over the past week Lily has helped me make dinner...pizza, shepherd's pie, bread ...all which probably made more of a mess with than without her, but she sure was cute. And it is fun to see her think she is helping. She feels very important.

These aprons are a tribute to Shellza....who made them for us.

Units of Measurement

I was thinking the other day about items we measure life by.

Finances-Right now, when I think about finances, whether at the grocery store or shopping, my unit of measurement is piano lessons...." It only cost 1/2 a piano lesson"

Time- Cars...Each phase of life brings with it memories of a particular car.

Toyota Tacoma=High School, the little red truck, extended cab...which I loved to bring to school covered with mud (exterior of course) so people knew I had fun.

Subaruba '90=College, my sister's old car, perfect college car... goes every, but never nice enough to be envied, aka lots of road trips

The Subaru '98 =Newly Wed- (a different and much newer Subaru) with automatic everything...a very nice used car and all wheel drive, and memories of our apartment, lots of snow, and scraping the windshield

Toyota Corolla= for the commute, low mileage, great commuting car, has the safety latches for the carseat, will not break down (at least for another 50,000 miles)

Perhaps the next phase will bring a minivan (dreading that), or preferably Honda Pilot or Mazda 6. We'll see....wonder if I will ever get to that Toyota Tacoma(forest green, extended cab) phase again...

A Great Salad...

This weekend was great. We spent Easter with my Aunt and her family at THE BEACH. It was really fun friday, but Saturday was a little cold, ok, a lot cold. Galveston was about 40 degrees during the day. "The Beach" only got about five minutes, until Lily started shaking. Should have brought my camera...

Yesterday was a little bit hard. I felt like I cleaned the house the whole day. I kept picking up and picking up, doing laundry etc. I think coming back from Holiday weekends does that to you.
We however got to go to Hermann Park, and see the ducks, which Lily loved. I should have brought my camera....

I did however have a good end to the day thanks to what I made for dinner. Last night was the best salad I can make myself (the best salad award will always ultimately go to Gma Malin). The past two night have been really good meals, and from yes, the garden. God has blessed us with lettuce, cilantro, and loquats!

Sunday consisted of :

Grilled Chicken
Loquat Chutney (very tasty by the way)
Pineapple Rice

Monday consisted of:
Asian Chicken Salad (utilizing of course the grilled chicken leftovers from the night before)

Recipe as follows:

Asian Chicken Salad
1/2 sliced almonds coated with melted sugar
1/2 head Romaine
1 cup chopped red cabbage
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 orange sliced up (or can of mandarin)
Green onions to taste
1 breast grilled chicken

Dressing:
1/2 tsp. Salt
dash pepper
1/4 c. veggie oil
chopped cilantro
2 Tbs. sugar
2 Tbs vinegar
1 tsp. soy sauce
dash of sesame oil

This is probably the best salad I have ever made, and it satisfies a meal, not just and appetizer, though omit the chicken and it probably would make a good appetizer as well. It is very good for those want to try....and full of key ingredients aka. lettuce and cilantro

The Bean's 1st easter egg hunt.

Our neighborhood had an easter egg hunt.


She didn't get it really, but after discovering there was candy (especially tootsie-rolls) and other prizes inside, she liked it.
